History: It began with one man, and a large vision.
As the 19th century drew to a close, George W. Vanderbilt's historic Biltmore Estate was already well on its way to becoming a national treasure. Built to his exact specifications, and modeled after the finest estates of Europe, Vanderbilt's home would soon rival the beauty of the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains. It quickly became exactly what he hoped - a regal destination for Vanderbilt's friends and guests alike.
Nearly a century later, the Cecil Hotel Group division of Biltmore Farms acquired their first in a series of hotel properties. Yet it is Vanderbilt's vision that guides all Biltmore Farms' endeavors: to create an ideal escape to the mountains. This is Asheville, in true Vanderbilt style.
